Charlemagne (742-814) was a Kingdom of Frankish Carolingian. He was the most famous historical figures in the beginning of Europe feudal society. Faceing unprecedented empire, Charlemagne recognized that the impire conquered by force alone can not achieve the purpose of the profound and long-term stability, so he established and perfected the institutions of imperial rule by religious activities and legislative activities's governance policies. At the same time, he reformed school education, libraries, and various aspects of language, and he obtained many art achievements, there was so-called "Carolingian Renaissance." Carolingian Renaissance fusioned the classical European culture, Christian culture and the integration of Germanic culture and laid the foundation for medieval culture in Western Europe. Charlemagne implemented a series of policies and measures and caused Carolingian Renaissance. He completed the remarkable historic mission entrusted by the times, and his achievement had a significant impact on Western Europe. This article is divided into four parts,the first part tells Charlemagne's life and the times;The second part describes the government strategy of Charlemagne;The third part describes the main contents and achievements of the Carolingian Renaissance; The fourth part is the historical evaluation of the Charlemagne and the Carolingian Renaissance.
