In the situation of the third technological revolution boomed worldwide since the World Warâ…¡,the industrial structure of the New York City has undergone profound changes. The traditional manufacturing industries declined, and the cultural industries became a new economic growth point of the city. Cultural industries, because of its high value, high technology, low power consumption, low pollution, became the inevitable choice of the cities to upgrade the industrial structure.In the analysis of the industrial restructuring, this paper discusses the dynamic development of cultural industries in New York City, and the background and reasons of the development of cultural industries, in order to find the interaction between its urban and cultural industries.The thesis is divided into three major parts, namely preface, the main text and the conclusion of the paper. The main text included four chapters.The introduction part elaborates the signification of the research and the present research situation in this field. Then the basic ideas and the structure of this paper are explained.Chapter one is "The background of cultural industries in New York City". The cultural industries are the result of the culture, as the new industries developed with urbanization. This chapter defines the concept and content of cultural industries.And this chapter introduces the pre-war development of cultural industries in New York City in the basic of New York's establishment, development and prosperity in the history.The second chapter is "The dynamic of cultural industries'development in New York City". This chapter focuses on the inherent driving force of the adjustment of industrial structure in New York City, and the relationship between the development of cultural industries and the Industrial Structure.The third chapter describes the reasons for the development of cultural industries in New York City. Government policies, a large number of intellectuals in Europe moved to New York City and other factors are favorable conditions for the development of cultural industries. Based on specific analysis in these factors, this chapter elaborates the Broadway performing arts industry and the transformation process of SoHo, and in-depth analysis the great impact of the media industry in promoting the development of cultural industries.Chapter four describes the relationship between urban development and cultural industries. It's based on the characteristics of cultural industries' development, and specific analyzes the interaction between cultural industries and urban economy and urban society. Cultural industries are the inevitable result of urbanization, and have promoted the development of the city.In the conclusion part, by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of cultural industries, it sums up the interaction between cultural industries and urban development, leading to some reflection for the development of urban cultural industries in the future.
