The Study Of Gan Bao's Thoughts On Yi-ology

Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology was great typical on the period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It had a big significance and approved by authority and civilian. The most important effect of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology was to administer state affairs well and ensure national security. So his thought on Yi-ology got a well-known reputation, which named "Gan Bao's Yi-ology". Under the times background of metaphysics prevalent and the Buddhism arisen, Gan Bao made his all efforts to protect the image number Yi-ology of Han Dynasty which already became more and more declined in the period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Gan Bao spared no effort for that just because he was not only a Yi-ology scholar with strong sense of responsibility, but also a Confucian with patriotism spirit. Gan Bao did outstanding contributions on the parampara and development of Yi-ology of Han Dynasty.This thesis consists five sections:Introduction;â… :Two pillars of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology:Gua qi and Eight Square theories;â…¡:The context of maximize picture in the view of Gua qi and Eight Square theories;â…¢:The ultimate value and concern of Gan Bao's Yi-ology;â…£:The influence and evaluation about Gan Bao's Yi-ology.Introduction:Firstly, it describes Gan Bao and his woks about Zhou Yi. By the definitely textual research, I do a brief general survey about the achievement of Gan Bao's Yi-ology and point out Gan Bao was a prodigy on the field. Gan Bao had wrote a great number of books. His immortal written works about Zhou Yi include:Gan Bao's "the Book of Change Note"(ten volumes); the meaning of lines on a trigram about Zhou Yi (one volume); Zong coating of Zhou Yi (four volumes); Question the Difficulty by Zhou Yi (two volumes); the Mysterious Character about Zhou Yi(two volumes). These books showed Gan Bao's talent and ability on Zhou Yi-ology. Secondly, I summarized the Situation and reviewed the research achievement about the Study of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology. The result is that, the academic community already made a big progress on the the research of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology, but also have some limitations. Up to now, no people had been to do an in-depth and system analysis to the research about Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology. Therefore, I want to do my best to do the study of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology. On this project thesis, I used two research methods. One is History conjoint Logic, another is Hermeneutic.â… :Two stanchions of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology:Gua qi and Eight Square theories. The view of this thesis is that, Gua qi theory was the main doctrine of image-numberology in the Han Dynasty. Gua qi theory also became the first doctrine stanchion. Gan Bao succeeded and developed Gua qi theory. His most important contribution was to highlight the intension of the twelve Yao of Qian and Kun. Gan Bao unscrambled the connotation of the twelve Yao of Qian and Kun, through the twelve Xiao-Xi-Gua of Fu, Lin, Tai, Da Zhuang, Guai, Qian, Gou, Dun, Pi, Guan, Bo and Kun. Another basis of his doctrine was Eight Square theory. This theory in the Eastern Jin dynasty became the important theoretical underpinnings of Gan Bao's thoughts. On this field, Gan Bao's innovation was to created Shi Yue theory. Shi Yue theory is according to the Shi-Yao's properties of Yin or Yang, and then to establish 64 hexagrams which among eight square to match a month. This is a further development of eight square theory. Through two doctrine stanchions, Gan Bao made further extend and deepen to the theories of Gua Qi and Eight Square as well as creatively to note exegesis about Zhou Yi.II:The context of maximize picture in the view of Gua qi and Eight Square theories. This article points out, Gan Bao used the Gua Qi and Eight Square theories to established the translation system of Zhou Yi. The advent of Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology contributed to the glory of the Western and the Eastern Han Dynasties image-numberology recurring,giving impetus to connecting Fei's Yi-ology basing on classical learning based on earlier texts with Meng's Yi-ology and Jing's Yi-ology basing on The New Text Confucianism of that time, developing Meng Xi's Gua Qi theory and Jing Fang's Eight Square theory, moreover, carrying forward and progressing their thoughts during the period of "having books, no teachers". Gan Bao's "the Book of Change Note" pursued the whole harmony that contained positive effect ideals accepted by the society, which give full play to theroy function of world outlook in not only standardizing and regulating the relationgship between people, but also establishing reasonable sociable order. Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology contributed to constructing ideal politics on the basis of Confucian ethics, suiting to the imperative request for the powerful unified country at that time. Gan Bao's thought on Yi-ology according with the stream of times, and also has very deep progress significant meaning. It was widely circulated on the period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and after ages.
