The Study On Application Principles Of Chinese Brush-and-Ink In Poster Design

Regard to Chinese poster design, we could not ignore our traditional culture and completely accept and imitate designs from western countries, but should seek bonding point of national art, national conception of culture, national ideas of color as well as national standpoint of aesthetic appreciation with modern design, thus strive for poster design with Chinese national style.After going through thousands of years, Chinese brush-and-ink is deeply rooted in the traditonal cosmology of philosophy,which can enable people to appreciate the unique and deep artistic conception of life and universe with peaceful mind, earnestly practice the principle of"let it be"and further form literati spirit. Furthermore, it also takes on a special mode of combination of poem, calligraphy and drawing, and ways of representation through lighting (according to Chinese Taoism, everything on earth comprises Yin and Yang-two kinds of opposite"qi"in traditional Chinese culture, which is a pair of contradictory unity). All the above-mentioned features make Chinese brush-and-ink possess advantage of thinking and particular glamour that is beyond other nations'reach.As a kind of important national culture, Chinese brush-and-ink provides abundant nourishment to poster design and thus becomes an important means to embody national consciousness by modern poster design. However, the studies on how to apply the Chinese brush-and-ink to poster design, how to innovate the application modes as well as how to combine Chinese brush-and-ink with modern design conception are quite few. Focusing on the present situation of Chinese design, this essay conducted several-round presentations through the means of observation, questionnaire survey , experience summary, experment and contrastive analysis, etc.. This paper lays stress on the influence of Chinese brush-and-ink on modern poster design, the significance of innovative combination of Chinese brush-and-ink with traditional graphs in modern poster design, as well as the modern conceptions and representation techniques of integration of Chinese brush-and-ink and design, which may have practical directive function for the application of Chinese brush-and-ink in poster design.
