The ancient and magical black glaze of Pingding Porcelain has been continued from Tang Dynasty to today. According to the historical records, especially in Song Dynasty, it is prosperous and make a wide spread and a great influence. It has gained the world renown, because of its special materials, the complex firing process, and the simple art decor style without exception, it creates a kind of product fusing"use"and"beauty"and it is the treasure of folk art in our country, and it is also an exotic flower of the ancient culture. During the development of the history of Pingding Porcelain, many nameless crafesmen have devoted their lives for the development of Porcelain Art from generation to generation, but also build an irreplaceable position on ceramic art in the history of porcelain in China.In Song and Yuan Dynasty, Pingding Kiln is an important Ding Department of kilns of north China, and its old name i"sWest Kiln",whose main products are known for the carved black glaze porcelain. Due to various reasons, Pingding Kiln has not been fully studied. In order to let the world learn more about the carved porcelain of Pingding, this paper will practically collect the carved black glaze as the basic material with the help of the archaeological typology analysis. What's more, this paper will examine and correct the firing age of Pingding Porcelain in the empirical way and research the ups and downs, combining with a large number of historical documents and previous research results. From the porcelain its own shape, glaze, porcelain craft and decoration etc, this paper will discuss the reason that Pingding Porcelain can be fired successfully in north China, from which we will explore the configuration rules of the decorative ornamentation and the modern decorative art expansion of the carved decoration.This paper is divided into five sections. The first chapter i"sintroduction",it leads to the topic of Pingding Black Glaze in the view of a historical perspective and discusses the influence on the development of Pingding Porcelain under the social background and the cultural situation in different times and cultural contexts, and all kinds of complex problems of the development of the porcelain with the historical changes, political and economic development and cultural ideas, including the problem of the source, the purpose and the decorative significance of a certain type. To wholly describe the main content, the purpose and the meaning of this paper, we lead to arguments. The second chapter will make an analysis of the historical and cultural background of Pingding, mainly from the social background of the full north porcelain industry to the history of North Ding Porcelain, then gradually narrowed to the history of Pingding Porcelain, from which we will conclude the firing age and analyze the historical reasons of ups and downs. Chapter three is the artistic research of Pingding black glaze Porcelain, detailedly discussing the unique style of the glaze, the rich decorative themes, the variety of decorative techniques and aesthetics. Chapter four is about the influence of Pingding black glaze Porcelain. It will elaborate the details, from the ancient to the present from the domestic to the foreign, from the porcelain geographical differents and the economic and cultural development and the technologic communication among the porcelain industries to the influence of modern society. The fifth chapter"conclusions",will talk about the difficult process after the renaissance of Pingding Black Glaze Porcelain and it will sum up the profound meaning of its existence today, and we will image its practical value of modern life by the expansion if Pingding Porcelain. It will make a tremendous effect on our current society as a new generation of ceramic language.
