Clothing hangtag is a small billboard, which is a link between clothing and consumer. Character, picture and color were combined to characteristic sign of visual communication.Consumers obtain imformation about clothing before they buy clothing. Therefor, hangtag have important effect on the visual brand.It is also product in mordern culture of clothing.In this paper, the history and actuality about design of clothing hangtag have been analyzed and the methods of research have been brought forward. At the same time, the process of hangtag manufacture and the concept of visual communication are introduced. Moreover, important effects on the appearance of enterprise and product sailing are expatiated on.Personal hangtag of clothing is an important prolongation and extend in the enterprise of brand clothing. In the system of visual identification, picture, character, color and information arrangement of hangtag are discussed deeply. Moreover, the theory of visual identification on clothing hangtag is also studied. At the same time, tasting value, sensibility value, appearance value and economic value are studied in this paper.Application type, brand culture, zone culture, consumer group, consumptive perception and conduct orientation are analyzed according to different point of view. Therefore, principle of application about design of clothing hangtag is concluded as follows:principle of design based on person, principle of formal beauty, principle of standardization and principle of art. Clothing hangtag to be good practicality and fit to character of visual identification are designed, which attains the goal of good prolongation and application.Design of hangtag was prospected based on summarization of problem in design of hangtag at present. At the same time, new strategy on design of clothing hangtag is summarized and concluded respectively. The design of clothing hangtag is too weak, which source is that that designer have no full knowledge of market, value and function of commodity. It is not fit for development of society to compete with characteristic commodity by simple and snobbish design of hangtag. High quality of clothing commodity must be fit for design of hangtag. All kinds of style should be used to impress personal creativity.
