Based on several represental dialect places such as the town of Lincheng, the Hecheng district, the town Lufeng in Xupu and the Yongding district in Huaihua, this dissertation tries to study the dialect tonal aspects in the city of Huaihua and Zhangjiajie with the theories and methods of experimental phonetics. It consists of six chapters as follows:Chapter 1 briefly reviews previous and current studies on tones dialect of in the city of Zhangjiajie and Huaihua, and introduces the dissertation's study aims, study methods procedures etc..From Chapter 2 to chapter 6, it constitutes the main body of the dissertation.Chapter 2 introduces the tone experiment, the experimental design and the analysis and statistics of the experiment.Chapter 3 studies the mono-syllable tones dialect in the city of Zhangjiajie. There are complex sources of the population in this city, and the number of the minority is large, which shows the different levels influenced by Han. In this dissertation, most of the investigators are young people, so a new dialect approach in the city of Zhangjiajie is concluded. The experimental result of the mono-syllable tones dialect in the city of Zhangjiajie is:yinping 45, yangping 31, shangsheng 53, qusheng 24, and rusheng 213.Chapter 4 talks about the tone-types of dialect in the city Huaihua, and mainly focuses on the problem whether qusheng of huaihua dialect should distinguish Yin and Yang. Through the experiment, it is found that there should exist the four patterns in Huaihua dialect (yinping, yangping, shangsheng, and qusheng).Chapter 5 does some research on the mono-syllable tones of Xupu dialect. The experimental data show that Yangping of Xupu is a circumflex tone. Though the tone-values of yinqu and yangqu are 35 and 53 respectively, the end of yinqu basic frequency value of the curve is much lower than the beginning of yangqu basic frequency value of the curve.Based on the experiment, Chapter 6 studies the mono-syllable tones in Huitong dialect. In this chapter, it introduces the previous study of Huitong dialect at first, then discusses the comprehensive process of experimental study, thus the tone-value of five tones in Huitong dialect are summarized like this:yinping 21, yangping 31, shangsheng 24, yinqu 45, and yangqu 22. In the end, the tone-value of five tones and the traditional sensory description are compared, and also the attribute of Huitong dialect is discussed according to the tone-values and the tone-types.Chapter 7 is the conclusion. Based on the full investigation and comprehensive materials, the writer assesses the achievement and points out some shortcomings.
