Village Reform And Construction In Village Autonomy Of Shanxi

During the early years of the Republic of China,wars between warlords were frequent,economy was on the brink of bankruptcy,and the people found it hard to live on. But unlike other province,instead of shanxi economy development, people living level was improved.Analysis of the causes,the measures of Yan Xi-shan were inseparable. This was the result of the Village Autonomy to implement fundamentally.From 1917 to 1928,Shanxi province government of Yan Xishan leading to conducted a series of profound changes and extensive construction in the village,and implemented autonomy activities for the basic unit with the village,which is named"Village Autonomy of Shanxi".This is a social and political action,which is the first system reform and construction to below the county grass-roots society throughout the province in the period of the Republic of China,complying with the trend of development for local autonomy since modern times.Because of many achievements had been made,happening the great influence at that time. So shanxi once became an example for national village autonomy by much attention.Since the Reform and Opening up,villagers'self-governance system is to implement nationwide in general in the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Government driven actively,as well as in protection of the Constitution and the law,grassroots democracy have strong development. However,it still exist in different forms the Village Autonomy of Shanxi tried to solve all kinds of village problem today.It will help us better understand the problems with the current rural society faced by the study of the Village Autonomy of Shanxi,to provide historical reference for New Rural Construction.
