The Koryo Dynasty was a very important united dynasty in the Korea Peninsula. Considering its own actual benefits, Koryo acquired more interests in some extend, and played an very important role in the historical stage of the Northern Asia. Regarding time as the order, incidents as the cutting point and foreign and military policy as main clue, the author makes dynamic narrations and careful analyses on the historical development orbit and series of diplomatic important issues of the relationship between Koryo and Liao Dynasty. At the same time, the paper also tells about the multi-relationship among the three countries and the factors which affected the kind of relationships, in order to draw an outline of the procedure and rules of the relationship between Koryo and Liao Dynasty, analyzing the destination, quality and effects of the utilitarianism. The multiple lateral relationships which lead to the interaction among the countries in Northern Asia are also discussed in the paper, so as to discover the functions of Koryo acting as an important agent.The article describes the whole repeated combating course of the northern areas of Datongjiang, especially about the six cities of the East between Liao Dynasty and Koryo, amplifying the diplomatic relationship among Song Dynasty, Liao Dynasty and Koryo, describing the battles and peace between Lao Dynasty and Koryo, emphasizing the struggle and peace between Koryo and Liao Dynasty. There are some questions discussed in the paper. The first is that in the less 100 years, how the two sides began to struggle for the areas along Datongjiang. At the beginning of the struggles, the article demonstrates their historical problems about the area. And eventually the relationship between the two sides was established after a long time struggles. The second is the course of fighting and peach between the two countries.The third is that How Koryo acquired the area so as to enlarge its field consistently northerly and southerly. Still, Koryo centered, and the political relationship stated, the article tries to offer a new perspective to study the diplomatic policy of Koryo that it had been carrying out a multi-relationship diplomatic policy which was called "subdue to powerful countries and showing our own weakness to protect our territory". The policy can also be adjusted during the whole fighting according to outside situations without losing the initiatives during the fighting. At last, the effects of the diplomatic policies of Koryo and its military fightings in Northern Area is also discussed in the paper in some extend.
