Surrounded by all media using WEB 2.0, newspaper industry quickly falls into a shrinkage and depression in the information and digital age. So expanding into the medium of mobile phone becomes a vital way out of this difficulty. In China, the design of mobile newspaper is still at a primary stage, and there is few relevant research and discussion on its layout design. The thesis aims to explore the form of mobile phone newspaper in a thorough, in-depth way through the comparison among the current situation of mobile newspapers at home and abroad, and through a five-step analysis, i.e., bottom-up strategy, range, structure, framework, and expression.The first chapter of this thesis states the motives of choosing the topic, research ideas and methodology, analyzes and summarizes the features of mobile media. The second chapter mainly analyzes mobile newspapers at home and abroad. The third chapter, the main body of this thesis, progresses in the way of the mentioned five structures. On strategic level, mobile phone newspaper is redefined as news platform which integrates television, broadcast and the Internet. It is asserted that the major means to make profit is advertisement, the forms of which on mobile phones are discussed in this chapter. On range level, the mobile newspaper based on WEB 2.0 will become a two way platform of distributing and receiving, while demands and sharing emotions will develop as one of the important transmission methods. On structure level, the industrial chain of "all media" is prospected. While on the levels of framework and expression, the paper reflects on the designs of current layout, which satisfy the needs of function but abandon traditional newspaper format, leading to the losses of guidance, brand character, and artistry especially the loss of culture. So the paper puts forward heritage concept of mobile newspaper layout. The fourth chapter looks forward to the prospect of mobile newspaper through a digital reading experience. In the age of digital innovation, "heritage" is a kind of reflection, with the value of which people can look forward to the prospects and raise some suggestions on the designs.
