| This Paper studies the four typical modal particleså—,å‘¢å§,å•Šof modern Chinese.The thesis studies words likeå—,å‘¢å§,å•Šfrom source and pragmatics respectively and proposed some ideas on the basis of researching and mastering linguistic materials and former study results.This paper introduces its basic structure from subject choosing, research scope, significance and methodology of research, briefly reviewes the study results on contemporary Chinese modal particles of former scholars, and discusses words likeå—,å‘¢å§,å•Šwith pragmatic methods by defining their deriving source and laws of their historical development, so as to conclude their most fundamental pragmatic meanings through minimal comparison and maximal common induction。Chapterâ…¥is a summary of the thesis. Besides briefly generalizing the similarities and differences of the four typical interrogative modal particles on meaning and usage, this chapter also explains the usage of different modal particles, which is usually utilized cross in the middle of sentences.
