The Appearance Of "Artistic Calligraphy" And The Meaning To All

From "artistic calligraphy", characters font design gradually entered the modern typeface design development road. Say "artistic calligraphy" is the beginning of modern design characters font, not only because of its integration of western design new ideas, but also because it has formed to contemporary Chinese font design specification of basic standards significance in its process of development. However, the artistic calligraphy is different from the typeface design, especially in the early, the influx of western design pattern and the conflict of Chinese traditional art character make it has a unique confusion and exploration.My paper is divided into four parts. The first part reviews the origin and development of artistic calligraphy. It talked about the inevitability of artistic calligraphy from the new concept, the history and social background.The second part put the artistic calligraphy into the historical period, and through the lateral comparison (with the Chinese calligraphy and printing font in that time) to analysis its modern design itself at the time of the "trendy"The third part is through the comparison with and font design to explain the different between them. Artistic calligraphy seemingly solved the contradiction of design concept between Chinese and western, actually it has a problem; it gradually gets lost by itself in character design. After artistic calligraphy for Chinese characters font design infuse the modern features, Chinese characters font design began to try to build a new contact by modern design pattern and Oriental aesthetic standards, so as to seek the new development of Chinese characters font design.The fourth part is summarized. It attempted to through the reflection of artistic calligraphy and self-examination of contemporary typeface design to summarize Characters font design's developing road. Today's Chinese font design still faces many problems, and font design is making great efforts for it now. The efforts include promote the progress of Chinese characters font design and hard work of many designers. These jobs made the Chinese characters font design have a great innovation.
