According to the explanations of astronomical phenomena, geography, animals and plants in Erya and Ge Zhi Jing Yuan, the author does the research on Etymological Meanings of part of the natural nominations in Guoyu, then summaries the features of the phonetic-semantic combination of the natural nominations, and the ancestors' cognitive thinking reflected by the combination of the name and the thing.This thesis is divided into 6 parts:Introduction presents the purposes and tasks of the research on natural nominations in Guoyu, the achievements of this topic, the theories and significance of this research.Chapter 1 introduces the quality, the publication time, the author, the edition and the notes of Guoyu. And it also illustrates the blueprint for this topic.Chapter 2 introduces the setting and overview of natural nominations. It includes 3 factors. The first one is the explanation of nomination which is mainly based on Liu Xingjun who said "Nomination is the name of a specific thing, and it is the result to distinguish with the perspective of color, shape, function, quality and etc". The second one is concerning the natural nomination which is according to the division of natural nomination in Chen Changshu's PhD dissertations The Research on Vocabularies in Guoyu and the overall summary of the nouns in Yuan Lijie's Master dissertations The Research on Nouns in Guoyu. The third one is the division of natural nomination including the nomination of astronomical phenomena, the nomination of geography, the nomination of animal and the nomination of plant.Chapter 3 presents the research on etymological meanings of natural nomination.
