Zhuang Brocade Cultural Symbols Of Creation And The Modern Reconstruction

In modern society, the cultural factors have deeply penetrated into every field of social life, and acting as more and more important roles. The individual culture is the root base for each nation to keep a foothold in the modern society. Along with the acceleration of the globalization, and under the background of different time and space, the ethnic culture is paid more and more attention because of its unique aesthetic value. And it becomes the cultural resources and social resources of a nation or country to develop the economy and maintain the powerful position in the social culture. More and more people realized that to highlight the self regional features and ethnic features becomes an important part of the "soft power". It's the main driving force for the local social development of economic, physics and culture. And the capitalization of the ethnic culture has become a common social phenomenon. This thesis aims at taking Zhuang Brocade---a handmade folk art as an example, borrowing the theory knowledge of multi-disciplinary, basing on the combination of field survey and documents, studying the problems when using the traditional cultural resources during the process of modern capital operations, and then exploring inheritance and construction of ethnic culturein the modern society.This paper mainly shows the modern operation to the traditional cultural resources of creating the cultural symbol from "Application for Cultural Legacy" and the opera "Zhuang Brocade". For the Zhuang Brocade, which is an ethnic tradition that can survive and develop under the background of new social context, the rich cultural connotation and realistic value are the basis for its modern capital operation. In the modern society that with many dialects collocating, though the development of the Zhuang Brocade culture symbol which derives from tradition inevitably departed from the original context, and its primitive state decreasing gradually, it's recreated under the influence of the original culture context. The historical accumulation and the ethnic culture are the core elements for the brand building of the Zhuang Brocade culture. And the Zhuang Brocade culture is wove to be the representative of the Zhuang Culture symbol step by step. During this process, the local government is the main founder for the culture symbol. They use the rights conferred by the nation/country actively, make the Zhuang Brocade to get the approve of the country, and increase the people's understanding and recognization on the Zhuang Brocade Culture. However, the history here is not always "real". It's the fragments of history that keep featuring, optimizing, deleting or changing basing on the creation of the culture symbol. The process of re-interpreting the nation's historical memory is the process of recreating self-image and identity for a nation.During the re-constructing process of Zhuang Brocade culture symbol, the interaction of the power relationship and the interest fighting can not be ignored, for they concern about the character and content of the reproduction of the Zhuang Brocade Culture. No matter the Zhuang Brocade that on the way to be Intangible Cultural Heritage or the Zhuang opera "Zhuang Brocade" that acted as the culture symbol of the Zhuang Culture, they gained new meaning under the leading and driving of every parties, and reflected their different interests.Under the current background of "modernization" and "globalization", and with the strong driving force of modern development, also the penetration of many kinds of aesthetic, economic, cultural and ideological elements, all these bring new opportunity of development for the heritage of the Zhuang Brocade Culture in the modern society. The folk nature of the Zhuang Brocade Culture will not fade away as time goes on, but integrated into the new tradition and co-exist with the modern culture, and keeps writhing its own myth.
