The Study On Zheng Xianfu's Ideology And Prose

As developing to Qing dynasty, Guangxi literature reached a remarkable achievement. A large quantity of writers which have certain influence in poetry or the academic field emerged in Guangxi, Zheng Xianfu is one of them. Zheng Xianfu became a third class chinshih(a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations)in 1835,and then he became a government official in the Justice department for a short time. He takes teaching and writing as his main job in the whole life. He successively teaches in the school of Liuzhou, YiZhou, Guangzhou, Shunde, Xiangzhou and Guilin nearly 30 years. He has large numbers of students and disciples, and he also has plenty of works. He was regarded as a best scholar, writer and educator.At present, the research on Zheng Xianfu is mainly introduced his works and achievements, and then evaluated its position. Most of them are general overview. The researches about Zheng Xianfu focus on his comments of poems and traveling poems. The research on his prose, literature thoughts and ideological background is very deficient.This paper based on Zheng XianFu's life, friends and works, try to do a research on his literary thoughts and prose creation. In order to clarify his literary thoughts clearly, this thesis will introduce the background at first. In Ming and Qing dynasties, imitation is a kind of fashion in literary. The literary ideology of Zheng Xianfu is very distinctive, which targeted the disadvantages of the era. He puts his literary thoughts based on his writing practice. At the same time, he advocated that the literary needs creation and the authors should express real feelings in the poems. He against the imitation to ancient, and claims the flexible learning.Zheng Xianfu lived in a period which Qing dynasty taken place great changes. His prose expressed his politic opinions which are very sharp.In addition, there are many articles that described the development and destruction of Taiping uprising and the ordinary people's life in the war, which can be the original material in the study of the Taiping uprising. Zheng Xianfu is quite a reputation in local. He has to make some entertainment prose which asked by his friends or fellow-townsmen. This kind of prose weakened the readability of his works. His articles full of the art of expression, which has strong logicality and numerous references. It revealed the author's literary talent.He narratived naturly and can use the rhetoric properly to enhance the image and vitality.Zheng Xianfu who has abundant works which reached a great achievement is a Guangxi scholar. The study on him is good for the research of local literary history. The further study of Zheng Xianfu is undoubtedly meaningful.
