Added value as an important strategy for the modern enterprises, was mentioned by lots of articles, in which methods to promote added value were talked, however, these methods were all on the domain of whole production, and thus one could argue whether the added value theory can be suitable for product-specific level. So I try to discuss added value theory in consumer electronics (CE) products and explore the particularity of CE products' added value. The results of this study will be particularly useful for enhancing the effectiveness of value-added theory and providing more accurate insights for producers and marketers.The main research contents contain six parts. The first section is an introduce of the paper's background, purpose, research methods, etc; In the next two parts, consumer electronics and product added value are researched; the last three clusters,which are the key of the paper, point out design is the most important source of added value and statement approaches to promoting design added value in consumer electronics.The main conclusions are as follows:In the current consumer society, people's consumption of electronic products has transferred from function to added value experience, design and advertising as main sources of CE products'value, become more and more important, Therefore, modern electronics companies must improve the design innovatively in order to get more competitive. Well-known CE brands in developed countries such as Japan and the U.S. are currently dominating the consumer electronics industry, the Chinese consumer electronics brands are not famous enough, Most of them have chosen to imitate others'design form, so they loss an important source of added Value:design. Although Chinese enterprises have sophisticated manufacturing skill, it's difficult for them to get out "Made in China", if they couldn't take design as an innovation. It is a great regret for China has few international electronic brands, It makes sense to persist in innovation, emphasize advertising and especially take a deep study on consumer culture. All these efforts well help the enterprises grasp the development trends and changes in consumer psychology effectively, finally make wise design decisions.
