Philosophers can not avoid the problem of man.In modern society, what is "man" has become one of the most important concern.People have to face their own major problem. Today, man is looking for man desperatelyThe problem of man is not only a philosophical but also a theological problem. Theology is the problem that God and the world, God and man,and the problem becomes a pressing problem of theology. Man is of vital importance in the eyes of God.Undoubtedly, the Christian anthropology of Christian is one of the main source. For moltmann, God is the criticism of man.As total man, as ideal man, as the man of possibilities or the man of decision, man must himself accomplish things which he can not accomplish. Man is a creature of God, like all his other creatures. They are his fellow-creatures.He is not their God. It is man alone that has been created and destined as the image of God upon earth.the image of God is meant to represent him and to act in his name.In his image he can himself encountered, and his goodness experienced. The appointment of man in the image of God means that man can not be absorbed in that which is to hand, but that the infinite distance of the creater from his creation also destines man to distance of freedom over against all finite things and relationships and even his own reality. He must expect or fear infinitude in finite things, and divinity in earthly and human relationships.Men are to rule over God's creation, not by exploiting and destroying but by creating. The idea of man as made in the image of God links freedom over against the world with responsibility for the world before God. To gain power over nature is now no longer the probem. But to use this power responsibly for nature and for a human future for man is the problem of present day. The idea of man as made in the image of God demands therefore today a deliberate transcending of national and class barriers, and the building up of a human society in which this responsibility of power can be taken seriously. The crucified Son of Man brings reconciliation to the sorrow of disunion. Man can not accept himself in spite of all of his unacceptable features. In the midst of the unbearable story of passion of the world he discovers the power to hope when there is nothing more to hope for, and to love, when he is put in a position to leave his self-deifications and his worship of idols and its profits. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | hope, man, image, experiment | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
