Humanistic psychology stresses student-centered teaching approach and students are the subject of learning. Employing games as an instructional approach is a children-centered teaching method? The present study mainly used three methods, including observation, interview and recording, to observe the interaction in games as an instructional method in class. The study tried to discover the history of games as an instructional method in Chinese classes for kids, the students performance in class and study attitude. The observation of real games as an instructional method in class indicates that there are still some problems in employing games as an instructional method. The study will try to find solutions to those problems and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using games in teaching. Based on that, the dissertation emphasizes the importance of situational education.The present study has four purposes:1. Employ games as an instructional method in Chinese classes for children, children's performance in class.2. Case study of games as an instructional method in Chinese classes for children.3. Children's performance in a class which employs games as an instructional method.4. The problems in employing games in class and the teaching strategy to those problemsBased on the analysis, there are four conclusions in the present study:1. Games affect students' emotion, inspire students' interests and change their attitudes towards studying which will help them participate in class more.2. Most of the students like competitive games a lot, male students like competition better than female students.3. The main reason students like competitive games is rewards and male students' purpose of that is more obvious than female students.4. However, competitive but uninteresting games are not attractive to students either. Interesting aspect of games is indispensable.5. Competitive games could help students build the ability of instant feedback and the ability to co-operate with each other. In order to employ games as an instructional method more efficiently and effectively, competition and interests are main elements of that.
