From the 20th century, the attention paid to the 'identity' has gradually increased with the division of power and the prosperity of marginal culture. For the marginal such as the female and the Third World Countries, they expect to get the power back from reconstructing their identity which was veided in the past, and get rid of their marginalization. As one of the most famous immigrant writers, Yan Geling has abundend experience, and she is lebeled 'female', 'the Third World Countries' and 'immigrant'. Because of the changes of the writer's subject, Yan Geling's works appear to have different ranges of vision. In her works, there are a lot of attention paid to the weak, either the female in the patriarchal society or the East compared to the West. These works not only appeal the difficulty for the marginal people to get identified, but also express the writer's own anxiety to be identified as a female immigrant writer. This paper starts from the power of the gender, researches Yan Geling's female viewpoint and outlook on life by analyzing the character in her works and her writing strategy. The first chapter focuses on Yan Geling's works created in mainland. These works appeals the difficulties for women to live in a patriarchal society as 'the second sex', and express the writer's sympathy. The second chapter focuses on Yan Geling's works created abroad. As a woman from the Third World Country, Yan Geling's attention was not only paid to the oppression from the patriarchal society, but also to the class, country, economy and social system, which are closely related to the marginal situation of women. She found that men from the Third World Country has also suffered oppression to a certain degree. Some of the works in this stage use realistic writing style, while some of the other use romantic writing style to create some Chinese immigrants' images as hero and goddess. By this way, Yan Geling tried to rebuild the Chinese immigrants' gender identity and culture identity. The third chapter focuses on Yan Geling's works created recently. These works put 'female writing' into practice and express a kind of esthetic thought which is anti-realism. They put attention to female bodies and libido, admire feminity and its strength, especially the dedication from mothers. Yan Geling tries to break the dualistic philosophy and creates a harmonious world for man and woman by using the balance between YIN and YANG.
