In the late years of 1970s, the famous American Linguist Charles J. Fillmore developed Case Grammar into the Frame Semantics Theory. The Frame Semantics Theory is used to establish a dynamic mapping between Syntax and Semantics, and to solve the problems of identifying the numbers of Semantic Cases and the over-generalization of them. The core idea of the Frame Semantics Theory is "to grasp the word-meaning that lies on the scenes motivated by words themselves." The FrameNet, which is based on the Frame Semantics Theory, blazed the way in natural-language processing. In the past few years, scholars in China have made great achievements in the frame-semantic research of Chinese, especially the achievements of those restricted domains of Cognition, Body, Transaction and Motion. However, the research on Chinese Speech Domain is limited to the traditional semantic analysis, and there is no relevant research of its frame semantics. This thesis takes the Frame Semantics Theory as the theoretical framework, and selectively studies the frame semantics of Chinese Speech Domain by referring to the English FrameNet, aiming to provide a paradigm of frame-semantic research on Chinese Speech Domain to the construction of Chinese FrameNet(CFN).Consulting the previous frame-semantic research of a Chinese restricted domain, this thesis adopts the combinative methodologies of macro and microanalysis, theoretical demonstration and practical application. First, this thesis sorts out the inheritance relationship between the Frame Semantics Theory and Case Grammar. Based on the core ideas of Frame Semantics Theory, this thesis discusses the principles and methods of identifying the Lexical Units of Chinese Speech Domain, identifies the Lexicon of this domain, which includes 277 verbal Lexical Items,17 fixed phrasal Lexical Items,4 quasi-fixed phrasal Lexical Items and 7 Idioms. Then, this disserattion analyzes semantic features of the Lexical Units and semantically classifies them into different categories from the perspective of information transmission and their valence capacity. The frame hierarchy of Chinese Speech Domain has been identified based on the Frame Semantics Theory. They are Frame Domain, Frame Sub-domain, Frame Category and Frame. Because the Lexical Units of the [gaozhi] frame are high-frequency words, they are taken as the representatives of Chinese Speech Domain to display the method of constructing Frames. Last, the thesis demonstrates the frame-semantic methodology via discussing the ways of differentiating the Core and Non-core Frame Elements and their syntactic manifestation as well. This thesis breaks through the traditional semantic research methods on Speech Verbs. For the first time, the Frame Semantics Theory is adopted to conduct a primary and selective frame-semantic analysis on the typical frame of Chinese Speech Domain tentatively. This research will further enrich the application of the Frame Semantics Theory in Chinese Semantics and provide basic semantic knowledge of Chinese Speech Domain for constructing Chinese FrameNet.
