One of "the five scholars of Li School in Northern Song Dynasty, Shao Yong was famous for his books "Huan Ji Jingshi" and "Fisher Woodcutter Asked for" , which are mainly about the ideas of Yi School, and poetry collection "Yichuan Jixiang Ji", which is composed of 1583 poems. As the first poetry collection about Li school in the literary history, " Yichuan Jixiang Ji" makes him second to none in "Li School"。Receiving different comments, his poetry has been widely imitated after him as "Kangjie style", "Jixiang style" for its distinctive characteristics and unique style. Unlike other great poets in North Song Dynasty, he has been studied more on his philosophy and ideas of Yi School than on his literature.Shao Yong settled down in Luoyang City at 39 and lived there for nearly 30 years until his death at 67. Most of the pomes in "Yichuan JixiangJi", his collection of poetry, which describe the traditional customs and practices in Luoyang, were written in that period. It can be clearly seen that the rich and unique local culture of Luoyang exerted a positive influence on his poetic creation. Unfortunately, no study has so far been made of Shao Yong's poetry from this perspective in the academic circle. That is why it becomes significant to conduct such research in this thesis, which will study the relationship between Shao Yong's poetry and the local culture of Luoyang in the following three aspects. To begin with, the writer of the thesis will make an introduction to Shao Yong's life in Luoyang before he studies the relationship. The introduction attempts to present the state of his life as comprehensively as possible, covering his leisurely life, teaching career, making friends and travel. After settling down leisurely in Luoyang, Shao Yong said that he enjoyed his life there very much, indulgent in writing, drinking, burning incense and pray before Buddha. He set up classrooms to teach for living. In addition to the classics of Confucius and Mencius, he also taught such subjects as mathematics and astronomical phenomena. As a teacher, he behaved himself with his understanding of life to set up a good example for his students to follow. He equally and sincerely treated people, rich or poor, which won him a high respect from the whole society and popularity among his friends. In addition, he liked travelling by cart in spring and autumn, either lingering in the landscape and searching for scenic spots, or paying a visit to his friends, relatives and monks, which impressed people with an image of a learned scholar with noble interests and character. Then, the writer of the thesis will study how Shao Yong described in his poetry the customs in Luoyang in Northern Song Dynasty. He sang a passionate song of the unique beautiful landscape, abundant flowers resources, the famous gardens side by side, simple and leisurely customs of Luoyang City which was full of scholars of noble mind and character and academic associations. His poetry with such rich descriptions unfolds before us a beautiful picture of rich customs and prosperity of Luoyang City in the Northern Song Dynasty. At last, the writer will probe into the influences of Luoyang City's local culture upon Shao Yong's poetic creation in terms of the natural landscape, garden sites, academic atmosphere and leisurely poetic style of Luoyang City so as to achieve a new understanding of Shao Yong's poetry and enrich his study. What's more, the writer of the thesis has made a list of Shao Yong's Poems of Making Friends and Luoyang's Geographic Names in Shao Yong's Poetry with the purposes to present a clear and direct relationship between Shao Yong's poetry and Luoyang City's and to contribute to the scholars of the field related.
