As Chinese unique genre of paintings and one of the unique types of folk arts, a new year picture is not only the pioneer of Chinese folk arts, but also the direct reflection of civilian life, beliefs and customs. In the early days, the new year picture serve as nature worship and belief in gods, later it turns into the necessity that is used to drive out evil spirits and get luck, relieve disaster and pray blessing, and celebrate festivals, decorate and ornament surroundings. The functionality of new year pictures displays the aesthetic standards and sensibilities of the multitude. In addition, new year pictures also carry forward the moral cultivation, for example, "benevolence, loyalty, ceremony, wisdom, honest" and so on. Which plays an important role in people's ethics. Therefore, as a manner of transmitting people's internal state and feeling, new year pictures run over with the true, the good and the beautiful that people go after.With the continuous development of society and the constant advancement of people's aesthetic needs, folk arts are faced with opportunities and challenges, confronting the impact of exotic culture. As an important intangible cultural heritage, new year pictures not only need our vigorous excavation and protection, but also need further spread of "the true, the good and the beautiful" of its,with the protection of the internalization,the modern scientific means, the power of specialized research and the route of development of industrialization, in order to preferably express the emotion and consciousness of people at present.
