A Study On Applying Xiqu Singing Skills To Folk Style Singing

This thesis mainly discusses Folk Style Singing and Hunan Huaguxi Style Singing. Through the research methods including induction, comparison and case study, this thesis intends to demonstrate the possibility to apply the skills of Hunan Huaguxi Singing to the Folk Style Singing and the necessity to introduce the skills of Traditional Xiqu Singing into Folk Style Singing on the basis of the findings of the predecessors as well as the author's own singing experience.The thesis consists of 4 parts. Part 1 is about the meaning of the selected title in academic study, history and current situation, research methods, research range and materials system used of this paper. Part 2 describes the main features of Hunan Huaguxi, summarizing the singing skills used in Hunan Huaguxi; Part 3 studies Li Guyi's audition as well as the author's singing experience, by then discusses the feasibility to apply Hunan Huaguxi Singing skills to the Folk Style Sining; Part 4 is the conclusion and discussion from the perspective of aesthetics.From the academic perspective, the finding of the thesis fills the blank of the unexploited field of this subject. From the practical perspective, the finding of the thesis will enable Folk Style Singing to incorporate various skills which will further promote its development. Moreover, the thesis helps to improve the ability of the singers of Folk Style Singing to do their auditions with diverse themes.
