On The Concept Of The Practice In Gramsci's Practical Philosophy

Gramsci is the main representative of Western Marxism and one of the founders ofWestern Marxism,and his theory of'Practical Philosophy'and'Cultural Leadership'is themost important theory of his philosophy and revolutionary practice.According toGramsci,there is a internal unity between'Theory'and'Practice'.This paper is to draw afoothold of the unity,making'Practice'as the centre,and get his'PracticalPhilosophy'and'Cultural Leadership'theory linked by the centre,to explain the ideas andtheoryof Gramsci.This paper is divided into four major parts.The first part introduces the origin and evolution of'the concept of practice',suchas Aristotle,Kant,Hegel and Marx's concept of practice,and the influence that previousideas created on Gramsci's'Practical Philosophy'.The second part discusses the thought sources and the main contents of Gramsci'sPractical Philosophy. The thought sources of Gramsci's Practical Philosophy consists oftwo parts: the impact of Marxist thinkers and the impact of the Italian mainlandthinker—Croce.The main elements of Gramsci's practice philosophy includes threemodules:Its purpose—the synthesis of traditional materialism and idealism.Itsessence—'Practice Monism'.Its principle—'The Absolute Historicism'.Finally, asimple conclusion is made about Gramsci's concept of practical which is combined withthe preceding discussion.The third part mainly explores the theory of Gramsci's revolutionarypractice—cultural leadership theory,including the carding of core concepts involved inthe theory of cultural leadership,such as the'extended state','civil society','culturalleadership power'and'War of Position',and explains how they were commandedby'Cultural Leadership'.In the fourth part, on the basis of the what have been discussed above,the value andlimitations of Gramsci's ideas are exposed briefly,and modern revelations of it arehighlighted:namely,the theory and practice implications on the research of modernWestern Capitalist and Socialist Cultural Construction.
