Original Appearance Of History

The author employs the historyical research method of realism in this paper,and reorganizes in detail the processs of the debate on"the theory having nothing to do with the war"aroused by Editor's Words, which issued on Ping Ming on December 1st, 1938 when Liang Shiqiu officially received the compilation of Ping Ming. It not only gives a classified investigation to the articles issued when Liang Shiqiu was the main editor of Ping Ming, but also restores the original history of Ping Ming, which finally gives an objective and fair assessment of the debate.There are three parts in this paper. In the first part, the author introduces the life of Liang Shiqiu and the purpose of running Ping Ming. In the second part, the debate on"The theory having nothing to do with the war"is introduced. In the first section ,the author presents the process of argument on the theory.In the second section, the feature of article criticized by most debaters will be summarized, that is, firstly, interpretation out of context; secondly,most debaters considered that there was no material of"The theory having nothing to do with the war"in war time; thirdly, adopting the method from Literary Criticism to Political Criticism. In the third section, the author summarizes the essence of the debate, which is the argument on literary conception. In the forth section,the author elaborates the changes of the attitude towards"the theory having nothing to do with the war"of posterity, which include two sub-parts:first, many people express their different opinions on this theory, such as Jin Mancheng ,Liang Jialuo and Ke Ling, and they proposed different views which had a great influence; secondly, the authority of literary historian changed evaluation on this theory, which reflected their change on literary history, and it also reflected that it's becoming more and more fair towards Liang Shiqiu and the argument.The third Part is the research about Ping Ming which includes three sub-sections.The section one is study of drama,the section two is study of prose, and section three is about poetry.Articles on Ping Ming are the reflection of the standard of soliciting contribution and publicizes the literary theory of Human Nature of Liang Shiqiu, not the deliberate advocacy of"The theory having nothing to do with the war"just as Left-wing critics have criticized.
