The New Youth was a Chinese-language magazine established by Chen Duxiu in Shanghai on Sep. 15th, 1915. As an important magazine during the time of the Republic of China, it had a great impact on the May 4th Movement and thereafter. Being one of its most important sections,"Correspondence"played an important role in the different stages of development of the magazine and served as a crucial medium for the readers to get to know the magazine, and what's more, to know its operation and development. The editors'successful management and their ingenious orientation as a timely forum contributed a lot to reversing the straitened situation of the magazine and eventually ensured its circulation. The New Youth published a lot of influential essays which were mostly arranged in the section of"Correspondence"either as the first issue or as an echo. These essays directly gave expressions to the editors'opinions and thus reflected the aim of the magazine. As a timely forum,"Correspondence"offered a stage for the editorial colleagues of the print and readers to exchange their views upon the time they were living in. An analysis of the relationship between the two sides will prove the significant role of the section in the circulation of the magazine.
