Investigation And Research Of The Ancestral Temple Culture In Panyu

Due to natural and man-made destruction, many ancestral temples are increasingly deteriorating in many regions of our country. Ancestral temples were once the center of the whole family, but now they have been left out. In the past, they concentrated the essence of the civil building, but now they only left over the parts which are unable to withstand.However, Panyu inhabitants'correct protecting to the ancestral temples offer a lot of good ideas which could be used for reference to many other places. Panyu city has preserved the largest ancestral temple group in Guangzhou district, which is also one of the best preserved, most complete and the largest ancestral temple groups in Lingnan region. The Panyu ancestral temples are not only great cultural heritages, but also closely linked with many outstanding intangible cultural heritages. In recent years, the Panyu ancestral temples have received highly regarded from the government departments, the experts and so on. With their lead, the public also begins to excavate the ancestral temple's cultural connotation and positively participate in the construction of the ancestral temples culture. All these could positively protect and make full use of traditional outstanding tangible cultural heritages, also can positively protect and heritage the intangible cultural heritages. Therefore, the article chooses the Panyu ancestral temple culture as the object of investigation and research, using the theories of history, architecture, folklore and the intangible cultural heritage, combining with methods of the fieldwork and questionnaire survey to discuss the cultural connotation and the exploitation of the Panyu ancestral temple.This paper will analyze as follows: Firstly, tracing the history and layout of ancestral temple in Panyu and our country; secondly, elaborating history and cultural connotation of Panyu with the representative examples, and then analyzing the protection, utilization and living conditions of ancient temples in modern society during the cultural construction process; thirdly, putting forward some personal ideas and suggestions of ancestral temples'protection and utilization according to existing problems. The ideas and suggestions include how to correctly handle the relationship between social and economic benefits and to use the ancestral temples as the places to develop cultural establishments, cultural industry and intangible cultural heritage inheritance; finally, making some additional recommendations with the specific cases of the whole country's ancestral temple protection.The Panyu Ancestral Temples are of glorious history and profound culture connotation. Both of their function and the structure they manifest the outstanding culture. Though in the modern society the ancient ancestral temples display's traditional function is weakened, their historical culture, the spatial place, the building craft and the implication intangible culture still have the very high value, and should be utilized reasonably on the protection foundation to better preserve the ancestral temples. The paper suggests using the ancestral temples to the develop cultural business or the develop culture tourist resources, and analyzes other ideas, like how to process balance the social efficiency and economic efficiency contents correctly while taking the protection as a premise. It also suggests by learning from other successful samples of proper development and protection, with certain propaganda and notice, to arouse the attention public attention to the development to the ancestral temple culture, as well as the protection and the inheritance of the intangible culture.
