Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, as world cultural treasures, reflect the accumulation of Chinese culture for thousands of years. The Chinese civilization which is as long as the Yellow River water has survived generation after generation and carried thousands of years of history. And the development of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy is almost the condensed history of China, which involves every aspect of Chinese civilization. However, many Cultural Relics museums just lay them aside on the shelves in order to protect them. There is little chance for those amazing artwork to be exhibited. In addition, you have hardly any opportunity to appreciate some authentic work of experts, which is a real shame. Even worse, many of them have been broken incomplete and cannot be preserved because of the remote times and air oxidation. Therefore, it is an important research project to reproduce these treasures realistically. Not all of the news is bad, however. As the development of digital photography, colour management and Giclee, we already have the ability to reproduce those artworks better and not cost too much. The focal point of this dissertation is using Digital photography technology to collect original pieces of artwork, printing exact copies of original ones with the help of high-end inkjet printers, and also, we have to make sure the transfer accuracy of colors using color management technology in the whole process.
