Chinese Ink Painting Effect Into 3D Animation Design

The invention of Chinese ink animation is a pioneering work in Chinese cartoon, it's almost 50 years old from its birth. It combines Chinese ink painting which has national characteristic property and animation medium to a unique animation manifestation which shows the special artistic conception and the lasting charm. It's very famous in international animation field because of its profound national cultural details.According to the practical study of taking Chinese ink painting effect into 3D animation design , this article expounded and proved the feasibility of using newst 3D technique to develop ink animation. First, this article elaborated the artistic characteristics of modeling,composition,conception of Chinese ink painting, then it combed out the developing course of traditional ink animation and pointed out that ink animation is national animation's pride. The ink animation not only has great consulting value, but also been the requirement of Chinese artistic spirit and age spirit.Unfortunately, the ink animation didn't make progress with the society developing but became to stagnation, all of the glories were passed. Although the 3D animation technique improved the producing efficiency of ink animation, it still worse than the classical ink animations created by early cartoon artists in painting effect and emotion expression, and that is the problem that author want to research and solve——how to using 3D animation technique better to show the artistic effect of Chinese traditional ink painting, making the 3D ink animation perfectly in technique field and art field. This article's main productions and creations below. First, it synthetically used the 3D animation software MAYA,the video compounding software AFTER EFFECTS CS3,PREMIERE CS3 and digital Image Processing software PHOTOSHOP to make a Chinese traditional style short ink animation. Second, it researched the feasibility of using 3D animation-making software MAYA into the creation of ink animation, and figure out how to combine modern 3D animation technique and Chinese traditional painting art, according to practical operating to summarize the artistic presentation of ink effect in 3D animation.
