Beyond Opeening: Movement Setting In Experimental Book Design

What is the nature of a book? What is the feature of reading? How can book design promote information expression? This essay focuses on such topics. In my study, I found that book has a duality, presenting as objective character and surreal character. As a matter of fact, the surreal character is the essential condition for books to transmit, and the source for book designers to show writers, assist readers, and realize themselves as well.The surreal character of a book is the separation between text and book-entity. The former belongs to writer, and the latter belongs to designer. Therefore, for most designers, their whole duty is to display the text accurately by constructing the perception of book in a proper way.Through studying, I found book has a perceptiveness construction, which can be concluded as below: the perceptiveness construction in reading, the book-pattern construction after publishing, the perceptive construction set by designers, the emotional construction of readers, and the thinking construction in book design. They compose the perceptiveness construction for book, and realize its value by reading. Perhaps, by acknowledging this, designers can promote the effect both in information transmitting and designing.For designers , keeping their advance in design means to master the latest inclination and genre of design. On one side, there're a lot of experiments of design aimed at exploring the users, which provide us better understanding of readers. On the other side, the experiments also reflect the inclination of design, so that designers have to acquaint it. For readers, they are not satisfied with the simple acknowledging, but more mental needs which can hardly realizing by themselves. But it is a common sense that readers have developed their aesthetic requirements, which means the improvement of beauty and shock at the same time. For this, the essay is writing in the hope that, it can be helpful for designers and readers to get better known of our time, by devoting itself into the description and conclusion of movement setting in experimental book design.
