Value Of Confucian "Brotherhood" Thought In Building Harmonious Society In Contemporary Era

Zai Zhang proposes the thought of "brotherhood" and consides that human beings are children of nature and every of us are compatriots and friends. This idea reflects Zhang's thinking of "love must be universal love".He stressed that everyone should cherish their own way to love others and treat a friend as to the treatment of worldly things, thus expressing large-minded beings of reference, praise and achievement. It expands the ethical and moral feelings from human to the whole world.In traditional Chinese culture, the thoghf can go back to Confucianism which need us to explore, analyze, inherit and carry forward. These ideas will no doubt have a very important practical significance to create a harmonious coexistence of the civil society in contemporary China.Firstly, this paper sorts out the ideas of China's Confucian culture detailedly,,which emphasises on core of Confucian values and ethics:"Ren" and "Yin",and the other thoghts. Then,the paper discusses the real function of the idea in establishment of a harmonious society. Finaly, the practical value of building a harmonious society under the help of thought is discussed.In the modern practical activities of contemporary human, there are two contradictions becoming increasingly highlighted:the First contradiction is between people's modern living way and physical and chemical state of the contemporary human; second is between the rapid development of modern technology and the global issues of increasingly serious ecological and environment. Exposure to such a double contradiction, human beings must correctly handle the self and others, our relationship with nature, so that people, man and nature are in harmonious state and get out of this predicament. These studies have important practical significance on harmonious socialist society in which man and nature exists in harmony.
