Qing dynasty is a peculiar history period having a comprehensive expression in society, culture and economic growth, and it is a final feudal dynasties. But the art achievement of "si wang" which formed in the early of Qing dynasty has many disputes in the Chinese art history. It experienced three periods from denied wind of the critique from the 1920s-1930s to starting studying them by the foreign scholar and affirming gradually their characteristic superiorities, finally to more and more people finding their characteristics and merits. It initiates whether the common people should hold to the tradition of Chinese landscape painting or abandon them, and it also initiates how the common people regard and value the traditional things of Chinese people and how they inherits them.In this article, the author mainly studies the artistic features of "si wang". This paper has four parts. In the first part, the author describes the present situation of the Chinese landscape painting, and states the different three views whether people should inherit tradition or not. The author criticizes the murky thought that the traditional Chinese painting has already moved towards the dead end and criticizes the viewpoint that the words are equal to zero. The author confirms that people must defend the agent of the traditional Chinese painting, and that people should inherit and carry forward the traditional understanding. In the second part, the author explains what is tradition, what is the tradition of Chinese people, and what is the analyses on the traditional Chinese painting. Apart from these, the author also pointes out that we must criticize the tradition and inherit their merits. In the author's view, the restoration is a kind of combs to the tradition, which has its profound significance in the specific time. In the third part, at the beginning of it, the author studies the works and the theories of "si wang", then she affirms fully the artistic value of combing the Chinese landscape painting of "si wang", and proposes the deficiencies of imitating old ways of "si wang". In the last part, the author overcomes the insufficiencies of "si wang", at the same time, she reorganizes some unique methods in which people inherited the tradition, moreover takes them as the drawing instruction to the present drawers and the study aims of them.
