Xin Qiji, one of the best representative writers in Chinese literature history, was a miscellaneous and erudite poet in the history of Chinese poetry. His odes was influenced by a lot of former outstanding poets, especially the most influential one Qu Yuan.This paper probes into Xin Qiji's inheriting and development of Qu Yuan from two aspects. The first part has analysised Xin Qiji's inheriting from Qu Yuan and his innovation from artistic techniques. Firstly, the writer has discussed the artistic achievement of Qu Yuan and its implications for the Chinese culture. Secondly, Qu Yuan inherited and enriched the technique of ode, compare and connecting in the Book of Songs. Thirdly, the romantic means of artistic expression initiated by Qu Yuan created a precedent of Romantic Literature in China, it has formed another new literature tradition that parallel with realistic tradition opened in the Book of Songs,that has far-reaching impact on the subsequent literary creation. Fourth, Qu Yuan's works revealed the emotion that feels sad with the coming of autumn is also the sources of later literature of feeling sad with the coming of autumn. In the first place, the inheritance and innovation of Xin Qiji inherits and develops Qu Yuan's artistic achievement display that he creates works through quoting directly or using Qu Yuan's sentences and imitating Qu Yuan's works. In the second place, Xin Qiji uses the Buesching technique from the works of Qu Yuan into his odes, and has further development through expanding the connotation of image of vanilla lady, expanding the object of the Buesching, innovating the Buesching technique. In the third place, Xin Qi-ji enriches his creation and be innovative through drawing on the uninhibited imagination, the illusion's creation, as well as the use of myth form Qu Yuan's works,his romantic technique has become more mature than Qu Yuan. Finally, Xin Qi-ji inherited the literature tradition of the feel sad with the coming of autumn which initiated by Qu Yuan, his emotion of feeling sad with the coming of autumn embodied in the integration of the social anxiety and the individual hardship, this made the connotation of feeling sad with the coming of autumn has been expanded further.The second part has analyzed Xin Qiji's personality spirit and his development of Qu Yuan. At first, Xin Qi-ji's patriotic spirit and Qu Yuan's come down in a continuous line , but their attitude to the monarchy were not set in stone, they all experienced the process which from"love the monarch"to"complain the monarch",to"critical the monarch"in the end. The author has observed their patriotic spirit mainly through the perspective of their variable attitude to the monarch. Secondly, Qu Yuan sympathized and cared the people's suffering, Xin Qi-ji inherited the valuable emotion for the people from Qu Yuan's thought, and he also thought it as a dominant ideology in his official career, reflecting the unity of knowledge and practice. Thirdly, both of them had a kind of unconventional person spirit, the unconventional person spirit of Qu Yuan belonged to the Confucianists' unconventional category of aggressive, Xin Qi-ji has inherited it, his unconventional spirit was not only the spirit of his personality, but also the way of emotional catharsis. Finally, Qu Yuan has glorious and virtuous personality to established the model for posterity, Xin Qi-ji was affected deeply. The awareness of the forthcoming hardship, the great and firm spirit that the Confucianist advocate had been embodied perfectly on both of them.
