Dr.Pamela Burnard is a contemporary remarkable representative in the field of creative music education in Britain, devoting herself to children's research on creative music and education. She has participated in a lot of international organizations and cooperative research projects of music education, acting on the international academic stage of music education actively. In the past, she has made remarkable contributions to develop the creative music education in Britain, and she is also one of the comparatively authoritative personages of the creative music educational study nowadays. The research is set up on the foundation of studying the history of creative music education, using the literature research method and descriptive research method, arranging and studying literatures and books published ever since Dr. Burnard has engaged in the research on creative music education. The newest trends of development not only in Britain but also in the forefront of international creative music education in the past 15 years are understood to some extent through her perspective, and therefore enlightenment will be given to the creative music education in our country.This text is composed of five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction, including the origin of topic selection, research purpose, research methods, research meaning, and creative arrangement and researches in the field of the music education. The literature searching of Dr. Pamela Burnard's research for creative music education in the second chapter mainly depicts Bernard's academic experiences as well as includes the literature searching from his works of creative music education that he has delivered since 1995. There are four aspects involved in the literature searching which are composition, creative thinking, composition related with media technology and creative music teaching. In the third chapter, through the arrangement of the related creative theories, theory of Burnard's creative music education has been given an overview mainly on those four aspects, which lead to the conclusion of Burnard's view of creative music. In the fourth chapter, the background and sources of Burnard's theory of creative music education have been analyzed by using Elliott's theory of music practice, Craft's theory of possibility thinking and Engestrom's Activity Theory (AT). The conclusion and the further discussions are in the fifth chapter. The conclusion of Burnard's contributions to creative music education in this paper solves the problems such as possibility thinking, group collaborative composition and improvisation met in the creative music classes, and also gives our musical teachers many inspirations. Indeed, creative music education is essentially an open researching area with a lot of problems needed to be studied and solved in depth from diverse angles.
