Faber piano series is a complete set of piano courses carefully created by American piano educator and composer Randall Faber and his wife Nancy Faber.The series was released in 2012 in China with the original Piano keys series.The Chinese version reintegrates the original version,and divides the four main volumes into two volumes,which are divided into six levels.At each level,there are two volumes,"course and music theory" and "skills and performance".Compared with the current teaching materials in China,this series of courses is more innovative in enlightening methods,schedule distribution,material selection and teaching methods.This textbook focuses on students and aims to develop a 'musical mind and heart'.With the reform and development of quality education,the popularization of piano education has received more extensive attention.In recent years,piano teaching materials appear in the market one after another,especially in the stage of enlightenment education piano teaching materials.As the foundation of the whole piano learning,it is necessary to make a set of planned,directional and perfect teaching plans for it in the enlightenment stage.Faber's "piano journey" course is a very popular series of courses in the United States.The theoretical setting conforms to the growth stage of students;The piano skill explanation is full of interest;In addition,the setting of improvisation throughout the whole textbook shows the creativity and practicality different from traditional textbooks.Based on the original American textbooks,this paper firstly sorts out and introduces the whole set of textbooks,focusing on the teaching materials: enlightenment mode,schedule arrangement,theoretical teaching design and supporting auxiliary teaching materials.The second part is the understanding and introduction of the concept of improvisation,with the emphasis on the importance of the design of improvisation in piano teaching for students' music learning career.The third part is the key part of this paper,which focuses on the arrangement of improvisation in the series of piano tutorials of faber.Through the combination with the conceptual content of chapter ii,this paper explains how improvisation is cited,learned and understood,and finally achieves the goal of enriching and developing students' creativity and imagination.China's piano popularization education has been developing for a long time,but the selection of piano teaching materials on the market is still in a state of simplification.The emphasis on skills in piano teaching makes piano learning less interesting and theoretical knowledge cannot be parallel.The author selected the teaching material issued and used in the United States for 20 years for analysis,sorted out the content of the teaching material and experienced the use of the teaching material in practice,hoping to provide some reference value for the future selection of teaching material in piano education.
