Study On Maladjustment And Its Countermeasures Of The Contemporary University Freshmen

Freshmen constitute a special group at universities. Having completed the simple and stressful life at middle"school and faced with the diverse, relaxed college life, they may feel lost and may-not' quickly adapt themselves to diversified college study, life and interpersonal communication. Therefore it is a great task facing teachers who are engaged in education of thoughts and politics to help them get accustomed to it as soon as possible and cultivate them to be qualified socialist builders and successors.This paper presents various behavioral maladjustment concerning study, life, psychology, and interpersonal communication showed by 2009 freshmen. Based on questionnaires and case interviews, the paper also probes into its hidden reasons, such as the bad effect of exam-oriented education at middle school, the influence of adverse trends in society, college education, families and personality. Finally the paper tries to seek its countermeasures to alleviate the students' maladjustment, which include the following six aspects:establishing "people-oriented" adaptability education, intensifying the transition from middle school education to college education, offering positive and effective social support, setting up a complete plan for adaptability education, exploring their activeness and arousing their self-adaption.In conclusion, the educational function of societies, schools and families ought to be fully exerted in order to establish and perfect the mechanism of information communication and interactive system. On one hand, school, society, and family should work together and cooperate well with each other; on the other hand, freshmen themselves ought to try to adjust themselves to the new environment.This paper expounds the main contents and approaches to enhance freshmen's adjustment education aimed to further strengthen freshmen's ideological and political education and promote freshmen's development and success.
