Camille Saint-Saens, the famous French composer, pianist, organ performer and conductor in the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, was one of the founders of French national music society. He composed more than one hundred of seventy works, which referred to several music genres. He composed thirteen during his life, among which Samson et Dalila, derived from chapter thirteen to chapter sixteen of the Bible, is an everlasting one.The thesis analyzes the composer's composing style, the development of the scenario and the figure character, in order to discuss further the actress's performing and the main singing as well as pieces'interpretation. The thesis is composed of four parts:the first part is the survey of the composer's opera composing and his artist style as well; the second part analyses the figure's character and its development as the music developed; the third part analyses in detail Dalila's three arias, compares different singing versions'dealing ways. At last, the author explores how to manage the role's character correctly, so that can perform it perfectly.
