Giuseppe Verdi of Western, a great opera composer in musical history, devoted his whole life to the operas. His 26 operas got the Italian opera to a new historical peak. So he made outstanding contributions to the opera arts in the world. Now the great soprano arias in his operas have been the model for many vocal music learners and singers. Based on the music of the great soprano arias in Verdi's Operas, music aesthetics, philosophy, literature, and other related domestic and foreign materials, this thesis investigates the composing characteristics of Verdi'operas in term of its historical background, subject matters, dramatic conflicts and image-building. At the same time, this thesis takes the great soprano arias in Verdi's Operas as example, analyzes its unique melody-making and singing style to further understand and the music style and great soprano arias in Verdi's Operas. At last, this thesis concludes the ways of interpreting arias in operas.
