| Tan Dun (1957-) is the representative Chinese composer who actives in contemporary world music circles. From the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century, he has composed many works, the publishing of which would attract musicians'attentions all over the world. In most of his works, there is a creative thought which combines the Chinese traditional music culture with the contemporary avant-garde sense. In recent years, he travels between China and America as the conductor and composer, which promotes the communication of eastern and western's musical culture.The thesis takes his Hu Qin Concerto Fire Ritual, composed in 1966 for three solo Hu Qin, two orchestras and vocal as the subject, analyzing systematically the structural parameter such as, the speed, dynamics, tonality, acoustics of the work, and the work's whole configuration; And also analyzes the developing line of composition from the pitch, rhythm, and tone to the whole musical composition, as well as from Tan Dun's life, his composing conception, aesthetic pursuit to Chinese traditional culture to his influences. At last, the author investigates a series of questions of how to explore the folk orchestra music's composing particularity and its potential expressiveness, and at the background of globalization of information, how can we enhance, show, and develop our traditional music culture, etc. |
