The present study centers on the influence of translationese on modern Chinese language. Translationese is defined and the typical features of translationese as well as its causes are classified. After that, the focus is shifted to the influence of translationese on modern Chinese language as well as the great changes which modern Chinese language has gone through both at the lexical plane and grammatical plane. Typical perspectives are selected to demonstrate the influence of translationese on modern Chinese language. Specifically speaking, under the influence of translationese, modern Chinese language has gone through the following changes at the lexical plane:rapid increase of loan words, emergence of affixes, and overuse of"一种"and"一个"—the false friend of English indefinite article as well as the abuse of plural marker们. What is more, translationese has also exerted great influence on modern Chinese grammar. Under the influence of translationese, modern Chinese grammar also changes a lot, such as the overuse of"被"structure, the wide use of subject, the acceleration of connectives and the expanded use of auxiliary word"的".To sum up, translationese has exerted great influence on modern Chinese language.
