Firstly, the paper analyses the background of the adjustment of Indian foreign strategy after cold war: The change of Indian international strategic status and the change of civil political structure and the change of its strategic emphasis of national development. Secondly, the contents of its foreign strategy adjustment are explored in this paper: New non-aligned policy and wishing to be permanent member of the Security Council; balance of big-nations; extending east; economic diplomacy; good-neighbour policy and nuclear strategy. This part of paper also points out its characteristics: Independent, pragmatic, omnibearing and multilateral. Thirdly, the paper demonstrates its international impacts upon South Asia politics, the relationship between India and great powers and upon world security. It has active and negative impacts upon China. In the same time, this paper also forecasts its prospects. Finally, the paper raises China抯 strategic countermeasures : Seeking common ground while reserving differences, trying to avoid straight confronting with India, practising diplomatic balance in South Asia and eliminating 揟he Threat of China?...
