DongGuan Water Supply Industry——Industry Integration And The Development Strategy Research

This paper is mainly composed of two parts. Part I is a case study based on the water supply industry in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, which presents a survey of the city of Dongguan, the history and current situation of its water supply industry as well as the characteristics of that industry in China and hence puts forward opinions on the opportunities and challenges faced with by the water supply industry in Dongguan. Part II is case analysis. First the author analyses the specific industry with the principles of economics. Next he analyses the competition structure of the water supply industry in Dongguan using the competition structure analysis model composed by Michael. E. Porter and also the internal and external circumstances which Dongguan Water Supply(Group) Company is up against with the SWOT analysis method. Based on the above analysis, the author then offers a proposal on how to develop a strategy so as to create a competitive edge for the water supply industry in Dongguan and how to implement it while in the meantime he expresses his views on the governmental administration of the industry.
