On The New Security Theory And Practice Of ASEAN

This thesis makes a study on the new security theory and strategic practice of ASEAN in five parts. Firstly, expatiating on the inevitability of ASEAN choosing the new security theory from a theoretic angles; Secondly, discussing the change of ASEAN security environment in the past cold war period and introducing the origin, development and main contents of ASEAN synthetic security theory; Thirdly, taking ASEAN as a whole to expound systematically the security strategy of ASEAN from military, political and economic angles; Fourthly, starting with the national different strategy practices to research in the case of ASEAN's security strategy; Finally, with the analysis of four aspects including the collision of cooperation security theory and alliance security theory, that if the new security theory can bring real security to ASEAN or not, the prospects of ARF and the enlightenment of the new security theory to china, getting some thoughts: synthetic security theory is applicable to ASEAN, for it is up to the time and the reality of ASEAN. In order to get real security, ASEAN should pay special attention to the critical departments, according to particular national conditions, and at the same time take practical and effective measures to improve security strategy and practice, but not distribute power equally.
