On Blair's "Third Way

As a political trend of thought newly arisen both in Europe and America, the so-called 揟HIRD WAY?is a way between the traditional model of welfare nation and the NEW LIBERALISM, rather, a compromise of the two, meaning to seek after a balance between social justice and market competition. This dissertation selects Blair抯 揟hIRD WAY?as the object to be interpreted and reviewed, thus having a restricted view on the new trends and inclination of the development of the capitalist countries in Europe and America, exposing the uncompromising contradictions still existing in the capitalist societies, strengthening our resolve to stick to our socialism with China抯 characteristics. I.The international and domestic setting of Blair抯 揟hird Way? Globalization, especially the global economy, the principal challenge 揟hird Way?has to meet. On one hand, the economic globalization has made the capitalist exploration global, hence transferring the domestic class contradictions; on another it has brought about some difficulties and unsteady factors to the developed capitalist world. Thus a new way is needed to tackle the new problems in a proper way. Neither the model of welfare nations nor晅he NEW LIBERALISM can deal with in a proper way the problems arisen out of it, so a 揟hird Way?has came into being. The booming of the third industry with information industry as its leading impelius provided the impetus for 揟hird Way? First the importance of the third industry requires the state to help with the development of science and technology, including information technology to take an advantageous position in the international arena. Secondly, the changes in employment structure which is caused by the third industry also forces these nations to reconsider its employment policy and adjust its labor force market system. Thirdly, the development of the third industry has led to the changing of the class structure, hence a new nut is laid out for each party politics to crack. .3 On Blair抯 ~~Third Way? The crisis existed in the capitalist democratic politics in most developed countries is the serious hidden trouble or danger. The public is no longer interested in left or right politics, and it is hard to gain a vote from it. The public is demanding more speaking right. The consciousness of a common body is becoming vague and social condensation is on a decline. The 揟hird Way?has to look for a new idea to strengthen the social condensation. II. The principal contents of Blair抯 揟HIRD WAY? As a new political stand, party politics is an indispensable content. The New Labor Party claimed to make the Labor party a political center of the country, not only representing the interest of the working class, but the whole people抯, including the capitalists? To obtain the goal, the Labor Party no longer divides the political parties into right and left, but trying to unite all kinds of political powers into one, take in multiple political ideas, cover more interest group抯 demands, stick to the party抯 traditional core values of social justice to win the whole people抯 support, reform the existing sealed political party system to enlarge the system抯 coverage eventually to realize the party抯 modernization.
