\I絋ER S THE>> Abstract With the development of economy, the western region has made great progress, but, by and large, the developing gap between the West and East in China has been enlarged gradually. The focus of difference between the West and East mainly in the places, but it highlights the constructions of small cities and towns. In order to narrow the gap, coordinate the region抯 development of economy in the West and East, We must construct the western region抯 development network according to the situation in China, to develop the small cities and towns in the western region is the best choice. With the overall development of the western region, how to develop the small cities and towns becomes the most important, so the development of small cities and towns is a very strategic significance to the western region~s development and economic coordination between the two parts, it becomes urgent to develop the small cities and towns in the western region.
