On The Big Character Poster During The Great Cultural Revolution

As a peculiar political and cultural phenomena in the Great Cultural Revolution( OCR), DaZiBao, the big character poster( BCP) brought serious turbulence to Chinese people' s lives and caused damage to our society. Hence, it is of certain meanings to the construction of socialist democratic politics with Chinese characteristic to draw some experience and lessons from the BCP. Based on the retrospection on the process and the developement of the BCP, the article attempts to make an objective analysis and consideration about its form, its content and the reason why the BCP can run rampant.The article consists of four partsIn the first part, the author probes into the historical origin of the BCP and makes a detailed study on its process and developement which can be dividedinto three stages: 1. the period of its origin and developement( 1957 - 1966);2.the period of its bad prosperity (1966 - 1976); 3. the period of its decline and fail (1976-1980).In the second part, the author generalizes the common form of the I3CP and gives introduction to its content. The article points out that the BCP contains large volume of writing on dogmatically propagating Mao Zedong thought and the instruction of the party central committee Led by Mao Zedong about the OCR and criticizing the person in power taking capitalist road.In the third part, the article systematically analyzes the reason why theBCP in the GCR can run rampant from some aspects, such as the fact that MaoZedong supported and advocated the BCP, the fact that leading group of theOCR agitated and incited people to write the BCP, the fact that society wasflooded with extremely left theories.Based on undisputable facts, the author, in order to draw experience andIlessons, analyzes the great damage caused by the BCP , points out that the badly prosperity of the BCP is an important reason why class struggle can be magnified. As a result , the author draws several conclusions to provide some revelation to promote the socialist democratical politics with Chinese characteristics.At the end of the article the author evaluates the role of the BCP and reveals the historical and reality meanings of the studying of the subject.
