AbstractThe Islamic Revolution in 1979 had an epoch making significance in the history of Iran. The Islamic Republic of Iran after the revolution has greatly differed from the previous dynasty in internal and external policy, especially in the latter. The changes have been dramastic. The most striking characteristics of the diplomatic policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is that the color of ideology is particularly rich, which was salient in khomeini's reginal period. "no east no west policy" deteriorated the relationships both between Iran and America and western countries, and between Iran and Soviet and Eastern European countries. The commend of Islamic spirit and export of Islamic revolution also led to endless frictions between Iran and the Arab and Islam countries. All above it isolated Iran from the other countries unprecedentedly and caused great difficulties to the development of the national economy. After khomeini, in order to improve it's international environment, Iranic diplomat have added pragmatism, stressed more on the economic and trade intercoures, reduced deliberately the influence of ideology on national policy, especially the diplomatic policy. All of these, added the dramastic changes of international and Middle East Situation at the thresheld of the 1990's have speeded up the diplomatic progmatism and the changes of Iran diplomatforcefully, and naturelly widden the diplomatic space of Iran.The analysis of the development of the foreign relations and the diplomatic characteristics of Iran can supply some references to the Chinese policies to Iran. ...
