Business operation activities of a company are viewed as resource occupying, restructuring and applying. Among these resource, human resource is being recognized as a more important portion, whose configuration is considered a must for a company existing and development. Outstanding human resource management (HRM) becomes a key means to achieve a company's target.Since 50s of 20 century, Merge & Acquisition (M&A) came to be an major operation pattern for managing a company. However, M&A is risky. Cases of unsuccessful M&A can be found in every economic field in the world. Why these failure happened has been one of the major research topics for experts from economics, management and other professional fields. But most of these experts' research results focus on finance, sales and marketing, products development and other impersonality factors. HRM during a merger has not been considered by various experts. Many of the research in recent years on merger only started by psychology.Here start by a on-hand merger in 1999, the merger between Walls (China) Co. Ltd. and Watsons Guangzhou Co. Ltd. In details we will describe, analyze, and conclude the focus and the way of HRM in every phases when a merger happens, hoping that experts in different fields would arouse their attention on this topic, and offer some unique ideas about merger management for companies of China.
