Mao Tsetung Thought, of which scientific farsightedness (SF) is an indispensable component, is a fabulous treasure-house where there are invaluable theories in abundance. Comrade Mao, while integrating univeral principles of Marxism into revolutionary practices of China, enriched and developed Marxism-Leninism theories of SF, and steered China's revolutionaries into a glorious victory. The road to China's revolutionary victories is inasense a series of applications and many a time guidance of Mao's SF. To make serious studies and reserches on Mao Tsetung Thought on SF has thus deeply directive significance. This article, in the direction of Marxism, makes a comparatively comprehensive and profound study it.Six parts in the article are embraced as follows:Part one-general scope of SF-gives a precise explanation of implications and manifestations of SF, bring to light universal laws and fundmental fanctions, and distinguishes SF from fortune telling and fantasy.Part two-the evolution of Mao's SF. The evolution of Mao's SF has both profound theoretical and practical bases and meets the objective needs of the development of China's revolution. It's also inseparable from Mao's subjective efforts. Its course is basically consistent with that of Mao Thought.Part three-the Chinese characteristics of Mao's SF. Mao's SF has not only the general characteristics of SF, but also distinctive Chinese characteristics. It both serves and guides China's revolutionary practive. It foresees various possibilities of5things' evolution and strives for the better ones. And with its foresight it properly deals with the revolutionships between the past, the present and the future.Part four-the content of Mao's SF. It's the key part of the paper. Mao has profound knowledge of the necessity of SF. His thought about SF is rich and aboundant, including for his SF the theoretical bases and resources, objective bases, essential principles, standpoints and motivation, and the foundmental and common methods and operating ways.Part five-the course of the evolution of Mao's SF. It's an extensive reflection of Marxist dialectical materialist theory of knowledge from the perceptual to the theoretical and then back to the perceptual. In the course, following the evolution of things, the farsight has to be revised and amended all the way to approach the practice.Part six-theoretical and practical significance of Mao's SF. It is a radical development of Marxism epistemology, an important ingredient of Mao's thought, a significant theoretical weapon in China's revolutionary, and a relvable guide to the way of modernization.
