Research On Sustainable Development Of Water Resource In Zhejiang

Since the passing of "Rio Declaration" and "the 21st century Agenda" in world environment and development conference 1992, sustainable development has become a widely accepted theory, on the basis of which countries all over the world make their economy and social development strategy. To realize the sustainable development of survival and social economy, the constant use of natural resources and good environment are the material base. As a basic natural resource, water is necessary to ensure the survival and development of human being, and meanwhile it is one of the controlling factors in environment. So water resource plays a very important role in the sustainable development of regions. Take Zhejiang Province for example. The water condition there is not so hopeful. Problems such as regional lack of water, water pollution and excessive waste of it have seriously threatened the sustainable development of water resource in Zhejiang. If it is let alone, water resource must become a "bottleneck" which restricts the implement of this strategy. In this essay, data on water resource in Zhejiang as well as at home and aboard was widely collected under the theoretical frame of the relation between water resource and the sustainable development. After analysis on demonstrations such as comparative research, trend analysis, etc., seven big problems are raised facing the sustainable development of water resource use in Zhejiang. Later, aiming at the characteristic of the unbalanced distribution of water resource there, the essay makes analysis on the current carrying capacity, and advanced research on the development trend on supply and demand of water resource. Combining together the seven big problems in water use in Zhejiang, analysis on regional water resource carrying capacity and also on supply and demand trend, finally the essay raises the strategy on sustainable development of water resource in Zhejiang.
